Dutch politician Geert Wilders to face prosecution for “inciting racial hatred”

It won’t be the first time he faces a court on “hate speech” charges.

Geert Wilders: “I will never let anyone silence me.”

See our recent posts (here and here) on the courageous Wilders as he calls for a limit on Muslim immigration to the West.

From the UK Daily Mail (hat tip: Brad):

Dutch far-right populist lawmaker Geert Wilders is be tried for inciting racial hatred after pledging in March to ensure there were ‘fewer Moroccans’ in the Netherlands, prosecutors said Thursday.

‘The public prosecutor in The Hague is to prosecute Geert Wilders on charges of insulting a group of people based on race and incitement to discrimination and hatred,’ prosecutors said in a statement.

[….]

The case centres on comments Wilders made at a March 19 rally after local elections.

He asked his followers whether they wanted ‘fewer or more Moroccans in your city and in the Netherlands?’
When the crowd shouted ‘Fewer! Fewer!’ a smiling Wilders answered: ‘We’re going to organise that.’

Wilders adamant—will not retract anything!

In a written statement, Wilders says he ‘said what millions of people think and believe.’

Wilders says authorities ‘should concentrate on prosecuting jihadis instead of me.’

‘I do not retract anything I have said,’ Wilders, whose Party for Freedom (PVV) is leading opinion polls.

‘In my fight for freedom and against the Islamisation of the Netherlands, I will never let anyone silence me. No matter the cost, no matter by whom, whatever the consequences may be,’ he said.

Immigration control activists gaining power across Europe, as we have seen (see our ‘Invasion of Europe’ series, and Germany earlier this week).

The far-right is on the rise across Europe, fed by disillusionment with the establishment, economic hardship and worries over immigration.

In Sweden’s neighbour Denmark, the Danish People’s Party has seen its support soar on a platform of tight immigration, tougher punishment for criminals and more welfare spending, apparently on track to become the country’s biggest party.

Americans pay attention!  Cherish and hold on to our free speech rights—the only hope we have to save America!

Seattle housing crisis: Pay attention refugee “welcoming” cities

Is yours one of 180 cities to which the US State Department is sending refugees?  If it is, you are either experiencing this problem already or will be soon—not enough low income housing to go around.

The city of Seattle had proposed a plan to gradually increase rents (they are probably going broke supporting all these immigrants), but the plan has been shelved for now because of the push-back from tenants.

Seattle is the third most desirable city for Somali refugees behind number one Minneapolis and number two Columbus, Ohio.

Look who the protesters are! Surprise (not)! Photo: http://www.kplu.org/post/protesters-disrupt-seattle-housing-authority-hearing-chants-rent-hikes-no

From the Seattle Times (hat tip: ‘Pungentpeppers’).  Emphasis is mine:

In response to widespread opposition, the Seattle Housing Authority (SHA) has shelved its controversial plan to raise rents for thousands of its tenants.

There will be no rent policy change until 2016, and the SHA might scrap the plan altogether.

“We have decided to put consideration of the Stepping Forward proposal on hold,” SHA Executive Director Andrew Lofton wrote Monday in a letter to Seattle Mayor Ed Murray.

The SHA board of commissioners was initially set to vote on the plan by the end of 2014. No longer.

“In early 2015 we will work with our board of commissioners to establish a process and time frame for a new policy recommendation,” Lofton wrote. “We are unlikely to put forth a rent policy proposal before 2016.”

Stepping Forward would have used apartment size rather than household income to set rents for SHA-assisted households with at least one adult capable of working. The rents would have increased over time. The plan would have paired the rent increases with job counseling for tenants.

In proposing Stepping Forward earlier this year, Lofton argued the plan would help the SHA serve more people, cope with impending budget cuts and push tenants to become self-sufficient.

The SHA has about 9,000 households on its waiting list for public housing and recently had 24,000 households apply for 2,000 available rent vouchers, he said.  [Gee, don’t you wonder how many of these are needy Americans?—ed]

But many SHA tenants, advocates for low-income housing and elected officials came out against the plan, predicting that some households would be unable to keep up with the rent increases and would wind up homeless.

Tenants demonstrated against Stepping Forward at a number of SHA meetings and at City Hall. Murray opposed the plan, saying it would have a disproportionate impact on immigrants, refugees, families of color and female heads of household.

A 32-year old father of SEVEN wants to keep his cheap rent:

Abdisalan Abdulle, 32, a father of seven who lives in the SHA’s Yesler Terrace housing complex, had mixed feelings about the news.

“They’re backing it up for one year, but 2016 is going to come,” said Abdulle, who took part in demonstrations against the plan. “I hope they get rid of it for good.”

There is more news on the plans’ demise here (watch the video).  And, this is a story about protests back in September that we missed.

Calling David Lubell:  Tell us why this is so good for the city (for the taxpayers and the non-immigrant poor people) of Seattle.

Obama: Big smooch for immigrant community organizer David Lubell

While I was busy last week with that bigger project, this is one story I wanted to post and didn’t have time for.  I am playing catch-up!

David Lubell, head honcho of Welcoming America.

Remember Obama went to Nashville last week to give himself a pat on the back for the fact that he had “welcomed” a few million illegal aliens to stay in America.  While in Nashville he invited David Lubell of “Welcoming America” to join him on Air Force One.

Before I get to the news, remember that Lubell is a community organizer who receives funding from you, the US taxpayer, through the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR).

“Welcoming America,” a product of the Four Freedoms Fund (see history at their website) is working across the country to plant their open borders propaganda in your community. By the way, George Soros was one of the initial backers of the Four Freedoms Fund.

We first learned about Lubell’s gig, here, in June 2013 at a meeting in Lancaster, PA when the ORR announced that they had been hired to keep you in line—to tamp down any “pockets of resistance.”

Here is the news from The Tennessean:

David Lubell, who created the national nonprofit Welcoming America in Nashville, was recognized by President Barack Obama during his visit to Nashville on Tuesday for his role in supporting immigrants.

Obama smooch

Lubell is the founder and former director of the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition and built Welcoming Tennessee to build understanding between immigrants and U.S.-born residents. The project grew into Welcoming America, based outside Atlanta, and has since expanded to more than 40 cities nationwide, including Chicago, New York and Los Angeles, helping immigrants contribute to their local economies.

Obama met with Lubell on Air Force One as he visited Nashville to discuss his immigration policy. Speaking to a crowd at Casa Azafran, Obama acknowledged Lubell’s efforts in bringing immigrant communities together.

Lubell credits Nashville as being a catalyst for change nationally on immigration issues, pointing to its transformation from an area hostile to immigrants to one that embraces them.

Don’t believe it!

Nashville is still just as much a “pocket of resistance” today as it was in June 2013, when the ORR announced it had hired Lubell to get your minds right on immigration.  Be sure to see Lubell’s handiwork—Nashville school system a wreck!

Frankly, we need a countering force which sends out teams to help challenge (with facts!) Lubell’s propaganda and encourage citizens to keep asking questions about the impact of large numbers of needy refugees and illegal aliens on American communities.

The only problem is that our side doesn’t have any money, but their side does—it has your money!

Weekly wrap-up December 19th

I hadn’t planned to do a wrap-up for a week where posting was light while I worked on a bigger project, but because one post this past week could end up being the post of the year, I figured I needed to mention it!  Thousands and thousands of readers clicked on this post from last Friday:  So where might those Syrians be going?

And, I hope that means that at least some of you read to the end of that post and called your local resettlement contractor to ask if Syrians were coming to your city.

The number two post was no surprise (given the number one post).   Readers from Europe make up a growing share of our readers, so number three is no surprise either.  Here are the top three posts of the week (top daily posts are in the right hand side bar):

1.  So where might those Syrians be going?

2.  Here they come! State Department announces that 9,000 Syrians are on the way to the US

3.  UN blasts Sweden for “Afrophobia”

For all of you who have sent me story ideas over the last week, I hope to start catching up with those today and continue up until Christmas Eve now that my project is behind me.

To see the usual top ten countries, visit our blogging category to see past weekly updates.  But, we are excited to report that we have a new country that broke into the top ten this week—welcome Czech Republic!

***Update*** Maybe this is why we are getting so many readers from the Czech Republic!

Because of the Islamic terror attack by a “refugee” in Australia this week, our Australian readers were here in force.

For new readers!

Since we get new readers every day, here is my usual spiel.

This is where you can find information if you are arriving here at RRW for the first time (in addition to our fact sheet). We have over 6,000 posts.

*  See our categories (left hand sidebar)

*  See the tag clouds (right hand sidebar)

*  Also, we have a great search function and since neither the categories nor the tags go all the way back to our first posts seven years ago, use the search window with a few key words.  You might want to first try your city, state, or country to see what we have reported from there over the years.

Readers from Europe should search for key words ‘Invasion of Europe’ for all of our many posts on the migration crisis on the Continent.

By the way, our category entitled ‘where to find information’ is filled with reports and documents, but with 309 posts archived there, it is pretty unwieldy now.

Past weekly roundups can be found in our category entitled ‘blogging.’

If you wish to be notified when we post, consider subscribing or follow us on twitter (@refugeewatcher) or facebook (RefugeeInfoResource).  ‘Like us’ on facebook!

And apologies to all who e-mail and comment, sorry if I don’t respond much, there are just not enough hours in my day!

It occurs to me that I do see everyone’s comments to posts because we do screen them (no foul language, no threats), so if you have something you want me to see, I don’t at all mind if you send the link as a comment to a post, even if it’s off-topic.

To regular readers, thank you for your continued concern for this very important issue.
