Editor: Subscribers might have just gotten this post in early draft form since my computer is giving me fits this morning! Sorry about that!
This little story in the Napa Valley Register (St. Helena Star)caught my eye since I was just in the beautiful Napa Valley last week. LOL! Check out this story at Top Right News: http://toprightnews.com/nancy-pelosi-illegal-aliens-border-wish-take-home/
This is what the No Borders Left and their friends in the Catholic Church are trying to do everywhere—-re-classify illegal aliens by calling them “refugees.”
The word “refugee” has a very important distinction that activists like the Jesuit priest and his friends in this story want to erase and that is that a legitimate refugee must be able to prove that he/she is being personally persecuted for one of several reasons including race, religion, or political view and is thus in danger if returned to their home country. This might seem like a little point to make, but believe me it is a big deal issue for the Left. Illegal workers in Napa Valley are economic migrants, not refugees. But, the Left (the Religious Left too) sure would like them designated as refugees so that they will be eligible for all forms of social services and will be given permission to work and eventually to vote here.
From the Napa Valley Register (St. Helena Star) (emphasis is mine):
According to the UN High Commission on Refugees (UNHCR), 51 million men, women, and children have been displaced from their homes due to famine, disease, or economic hardship.
Some of those are in the Napa Valley.
St. Helenans Martin and Rita Bennett invited Father Peter Balleis of the Jesuit Refugee Service to St. Helena on World Refugee Day, June 20, to speak to small groups of people.
Martin Bennett said his focus has become one of advocacy for those who are displaced, the so-called “illegals,” undocumented migrants who come looking for work in the restaurants and the vineyard fields. “The Napa Valley is unparalleled in its generosity to causes,” he said. “But these refugees are here, in the valley, seeking employment.” [Again, they are NOT refugees.—ed]
And even though they are not necessarily visible or perceived as refugees, he said, their plight needs to be addressed. “We can go where they are, find out what they need, and try to help,” he said. “And we can write letters to the State Department, to Nancy Pelosi, and to Mike Thompson, to encourage them to increase the budget for addressing the issues of refugees.”
I wondered if Pelosi ‘welcomes refugees’ to her California vineyard and found this 2014 story and photo.
He says he just wants a civil discussion to get the facts. Indeed that is all we have ever asked for over the last 8 years—the facts! All of the facts! All of the facts to be laid out in public—the good, the bad and the ugly.
And, that is exactly what the UN/US State Department and their resettlement contractors avoid wherever they begin a new resettlement program. Why? Because when the average American citizen learns all of the facts they reject this program! Secrecy has been its watchword for over three decades! Casper Star Tribune: Albert Einstein was a refugee.
See this story at the Casper Star Tribune where Gov. Mead, we are told, has asked the ‘Humanities Council’ to add discussions about the federal government’s refugee program to its forum agenda. LOL! Mead, who suggested here, that RRW is racist now says he wants a factual, respectful debate!
I can’t wait to see who he invites to address the negative aspects of resettling third worlders in Wyoming, the only state with no official resettlement program.
Imagine a sitting governor taking time to call-out a blogger thousands of miles away! What is he afraid of?
For all of our many many posts on the controversy that saw the issue become a re-election concern for Mead, click here. I haven’t the time or patience to go back through it all. But, will address a couple of the “facts” in this news story.
I wish only one thing—I wish that Republican Gov. Matt Mead would be honest and tell everyone why it is so important for him to open Wyoming to impoverished refugees from Syria, Somalia, Iraq, Burma, Afghanistan and from myriad other conflict zones around the world. Why???
Now to theStar Tribune: *On the phrase “refugee camps.” I don’t know where that came from and when I first saw it, I thought it was an unfortunate choice of words because refugees will not live in camps. They will live, at first, in a couple of US State Department/contractor chosen cities in Wyoming and in mostly taxpayer-subsidized housing. RRW: Esar Met was a refugee in Utah * Regarding this statement by the reporter:
Opponents to resettlement have said refugees can spread HIV, Ebola, tuberculosis and advocate Sharia law.
Refugees are admitted to the US with HIV and tuberculosis. Come on lazy reporters—look it up! As for Ebola, the Liberian man who died in Texas with Ebola was visiting others who had come to the US as refugees, but no mention was ever made of his immigration status (that I know of). So, so far there hasn’t been a case of Ebola in a refugee.
And, yes, advocates of Sharia law are plentiful in the refugee flow, one only need to look to Minnesota, Ohio and California for cases of refugees being prosecuted for aiding Islamic terror groups around the world. * Regarding the discussion about secondary migrants (refugees who have moved into Wyoming from elsewhere):
Refugees are currently living in Wyoming, Mead said.
“Most of them (are) I think the term is secondary refugees,” he said. “In other words, they’ve relocated into another state and now they are coming to Wyoming. But because we have no plan in place, we don’t know what their numbers are, what are the resources that they’re using.
RRW: Jasim Ramadon was a refugee in Colorado.
First, secondary migrants are like any other legal immigrant in America who chooses to move—we do allow free movement in this country (thankfully)! However, those who choose to move from their primary place of resettlement, don’t need any special programs just for them. They can find work and/or access welfare without someone (a resettlement contractor) holding their hands just as any other class of legal immigrant must do.
Governor Mead does not need the Humanities Council or a special resettlement contractor to figure out what “resources they’re using.” He is the governor after all, he needs only to direct offices within the state government to figure out how much welfare the ‘secondary migrants’ are using, how many kids are in the schools, what health services they are using, etc. The federal government is not going to send Wyoming more money for them, but state taxpayers might like to know the answer!
And, one more thing on the ‘secondary migrants.’ We learned here that Somalis were moving in from Colorado so as to obtain housing vouchers that they could take back to Colorado. Maybe the Governor should find out how many of those refugees were ripping off poor and disabled Wyomingites who need that housing! * Then this is downright BS!
The federal Office of Refugee Resettlement and the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees “pay 100 percent of the costs of refugee resettlement for many years. It’s not like we’re going to get stuck with an unfunded mandate,” he said, noting Albert Einstein was a refugee.
Please, please get your facts! I have written probably a hundred posts here at RRW explaining that local and state taxpayers are picking up a large chunk of the tab for all of this (not to mention the fact that even if some money comes from the feds, it still comes via Wyoming/US taxpayers or China! We don’t grow money on trees in Washington!). Who do you think is paying for: educating the refugee children, providing interpreter services, paying for the criminal justice system, the fire and rescue service, or a large portion of the medical screening at your local health department?
* And, now I am really steamed—what biased c***—“Albert Einstein was a refugee.”
I can play that game too. Utah child rapist and murderer “Esar Metwas a refugee” (she died in excruciating pain). And, so was Jasim Ramadonan Iraqi gang rapist in Colorado. Oh, and did you know about the two Iraqi refugee terrorists convicted in Kentucky? How about Somali, Abdirahmaan Muhumed, a refugee to whom we gave a good life and who then went off and died for ISIS leaving 9 children and several wives for US taxpayers to support?
Who do you think paid for the criminal trials of these refugees—state and local taxpayers! Who is paying for their prison terms? You guessed it! You! I’ll bet a million bucks (if I had it!) that Einstein will be mentioned at the Humanities forum, but not a word about Met, Ramadon or Muhumed will cross any lips.
My message to the good folks of Wyoming—get your facts! All of the facts!
Why is this so interesting to us? If you think the migrant boats arriving on Malta don’t affect you, think again! We are taking some of Malta’s illegal aliens off their hands.
….because Canada is apparently attempting to make the point that international refugee law requires legitimate asylum seekers to seek asylum in the first safe country they enter.
The island nation of Malta is safe and therefore offers a “durable solution” to those seeking asylum. Although we have sympathy for Malta and the Maltese people, there is no reason for a western nation like Canada or the US to resettle refugees from a safe country.
Here is the Independent:
A number of refugees in Malta who have been sponsored to move to Canada are being prevented from emigrating since Canada’s immigration authorities consider their stay in Malta to be a “durable solution” to their situation, Canadian media is reporting.
Remember readers that ever since the Bush Administration, the US State Department has been illegally in our viewscooping up hundreds of those mostly African (mostly Somali!) illegal alien boat people who manage to get across the Mediterranean to Malta, transform them into refugees and move them to your towns and cities. See most recently here.
And, here, we learned that some of the Malta boat people went to South Carolina.
We have dozens and dozens of posts on this outrage. Go here for our complete Malta archive. And, here, for our ‘Invasion of Europe’ series.
We alerted readers, in February 2014, that Toledo was being targeted as a new “welcoming” community for refugees and in particular refugees from the Middle East. See our story! The original ABC News story is gone (it’s a good thing I snipped some of it). Pay particular attention to the flag graphic behind the TV news anchor. Screen shot from the 2014 announcement that Toledo will take Iraqi refugees. Arabic writing on the flag: Allahu Akbar! Did ABC know what they were doing when they prepared this graphic?
Now, here is the update on Toledo thanks to a new blog called Welcoming America Watch Midwest(story posted at Creeping Sharia). I was so excited to see this news—-not that Toledo is being colonized, but the news that someone else is writing a blog on refugees! Here is a bit of the post, but please go read the rest of it!
I was about to start a post on the parent group of Global Detroit and all the other Welcoming initiatives when it came to our attention that Afghan and Syrian refugees are being resettled in Toledo, Ohio. We have known for awhile that the address of an apartment complex’s office called Kenwood Gardens is listed on the State Department refugee resettlement subcontractor list as address for the subcontractor US Together.
[….]
This neighborhood appears to have everything a family could need to function. At the link to US Together–Toledo’s Facebook, there’s photos of another apartment for Afghan refugees. There’s a mosque, shopping center with grocery, large apartment complex, refugee resettlement contractor stationed at the apartment office building–and to top it all off, a public charter school for the kids that has an Arabic theme (the schools–elementary and middle–moved from their original Secor Rd. location into an old synagogue adjacent to the apartments). And all this is within walking distance of a huge employer, the University of Toledo (not on the above map).
This is a quick post to update a story we first mentioned here. Afgahan military officer, Arash, was originally denied asylum, but won an appeal and can now stay here, live off the US taxpayer, and eventually vote. Carr: Arash now gets the “full Tsarnaev!”
Read all about Afghan Army deserter, Jan Arash, below in an opinion piece by Boston radio talk show host Howie Carr. Here come the welfare goodies! Hat tip: Joanne. Boston Herald:
Afghan army deserter Jan Arash hit the jackpot last week — he’s been granted “asylum” in the U.S., which means he can now go on welfare, bring his entire family over from their Third World hellhole and put them on the dole, too, forever.
“He’s overjoyed,” said his lawyer.
And why wouldn’t he be?
This is what millions of Third Worlders aspire to — a permanent vacation at U.S. taxpayer expense. Call it the Tsarnaev lottery, only it’s not a lottery because there’s no element of chance. The illegals always win — and America loses.
You may recall that this yellow traitor to his country was one of three Afghan soldiers who came to Camp Edwards on Cape Cod last year, purportedly to study emergency planning. They quickly fled to Zachary’s Pub, a local strip club in Mashpee. It didn’t take more than one or two lap dances to decide to remain here in the Great Satan forever.
How you gonna keep ’em down on the jihad once they’ve seen Zachary’s? And once they find out that … everything’s on Uncle Sam, including the “back rubs”?
They deserted and took a cab to Niagara Falls — $1,600! Then they demanded asylum. One was allowed to stay in Canada, which is Canada’s problem. The other two, including Arash, were jailed after they claimed asylum on the grounds that they were afraid of the Taliban.
For new readers, the asylum process is also a part of the Refugee Act of 1980. The difference between refugees and asylum seekers is that we fly the mostly UN-chosen refugees in and asylum seekers get in here on their own steam (overstay a Visa, enter illegally, or, like Arash, desert) and then claim asylum saying they will be persecuted if sent home. Once granted asylum, the asylum seeker becomes a full-fledged refugee and eligible for myriad social services gratis the US taxpayer.
By the way, the vast majority of those flowing across US borders are economic migrants who are pretending to be legitimate asylum seekers. The same holds true for Europe’s invaders.
