Three new suspects in Boston bombing case, one has a refugee connection

Robel Phillipos in court today. Photo AP

Update May 5th, Phillipos wants to be released tomorrow—good boy (dumb maybe) but son of a refugee so therefore he is good, right?

It’s all over the news today (you don’t need me to tell you!) about the three friends of Dzhokar  Tsarnaev and how they have been arrested for trying to hide evidence.  We have been told repeatedly by the media that their involvement was AFTER the bombing, but we really don’t know that yet.

Here is a profile of the Ethiopian young man who first spotted his friend Dzhokar on the video footage released by the FBI in the days following the terrorist attack.

We don’t know if the 19-year-old was himself a refugee from Ethiopia, but his mother very likely was since she “works with refugees” now.

If he is a Muslim, as the other two arrested today are, we haven’t been told that yet (that I know of).  A reliable source tells me that we resettle mostly Ethiopian Christians and only about 20% Muslims.  BTW, the US State Department keeps all the stats on the religions of refugees they admit to the US, they just won’t give you that information.

From USA Today:

Robel Phillipos, charged with lying to authorities investigating the Boston Marathon bombings, was the first friend to recognize Dzhokar Tsarnaev’s photo on TV news and alert the two other university students accused of aiding the suspect, according to the FBI affidavit released Wednesday.

Phillipos, Tsarnaev and Dias Kadyrbayev and Azamat Tazhayakov attended the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth. Phillipos, 19, of Cambridge, was studying marketing, but the university said Wednesday he is not currently enrolled.

With Tsarnaev, he was a 2011 graduate of the prestigious Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, the city schools’ superintendent’s office said.

Phillipos, a U.S. citizen, lives with his mother, who is from Ethiopia and works with refugees, WHDH-TV reported. Their Cambridge apartment is next to the gas station where the Tsarnaev brothers carjacked a vehicle before getting into the shootout with police in which 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed.

Does anyone other than me find it ironic that all of this is happening in the very heart of Liberal, politically-correct America, Cambridge, Mass?

Of all of the cities in the U.S. one would think that Boston (Kennedy country!) would be immune from Muslim terrorist attacks because the people there are so “welcoming” to immigrants.   Why would those same immigrants, given so much in Massachusetts, lie and kill people?

If you are interested (or some enterprising reporter is interested in investigating further), here is a list of all the “welcoming” refugee and immigrant groups serving “new Americans”  in the Boston area (and largely funded by you—the taxpayer).

For new readers:  We have written a bunch over the years on Ethiopian refugees, type ‘Ethiopian’ into our search function for more.  I just did that, and what a coincidence this post heads the list—Virginia Imam stirring up Ethiopian Muslims with Jihad Talk.

California Rep: Open refugee resettlement to all Afghan women

So what happens when these women get to the US and apply for family reunification and want hubby to join them? AP Photo

Oh brother!  If you think this proposal by a California Congresswoman sounds a bit nutty, please note that the Gang of Eight’s amnesty bill would in fact make refugee resettlement available to WHOLE CLASSES OF PEOPLE.

No longer would they have to personally show they are in fear of persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or because they are a member of a persecuted ‘social group’ (includes being gay now), they simply must belong to a certain group of people assumed to be persecuted—eg. Afghan women.

The Gang of Eight bill also allows the President to declare a whole group of people, eg. Afghan women, as in the “national interest” to admit to the US.

Most of us have sympathy for the plight of women in Islamic countries, but that doesn’t mean we should happily “welcome” them to America.  And, indeed, all Muslim women are not so benign as Rep. Jackie Speier would have you think.  Have we already forgotten Bomber Mom  Zubeidat Tsarnaeva?

Here is CNS News yesterday in a story that is buzzing around the internet:

( – A U.S. lawmaker, expressing concern about the lives of Afghan women when most U.S. troops leave the country in 2014, said those who want to do so should be allowed to come to the United States:

“I’m really concerned about these women,” Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) told a House Armed Services subcommittee on April 25. “I think everyone on this panel is very concerned about these women…But I think there is something we can do. And that is to create a refugee status for any Afghan woman who wants to leave the country and is seeking asylum in our country.

“And that we should put in place now a procedure whereby they can be informed of that opportunity and be granted that opportunity, so that we can at least save the lives of those who are not so embedded in the culture and want to find a way to free themselves of what I believe will become, without a question, more oppressive than what’s going on right now, under our noses with us there.”

But, I thought the Libs, like Speier (and Obama), think there is no reason to be in Afghanistan any longer, that everything there will be hunky-dory!   Truth be told, I don’t want us to be there either because we are never going to change these Islamic societies, we just need to now make sure they don’t bring their ‘religion and culture’ to America.

And Rep. Speier, tell me! what happens when all these women are granted asylum and then apply for family reunification in order to bring all their hubbies and half grown kids to join them in America—hmmmm?

Tell Congress to strip out all references to refugee resettlement and asylum from the Gang of Eight Amnesty bill.

Gang of Eight provides “slush fund” for refugee resettlement contractors

….or any number of other non-profit groups with experience in serving immigrants.

Your tax dollars!

We mentioned it here a few days ago, but the Center for Immigration Studies highlights the new grant program to benefit the bill’s lobbyists in a piece this morning, by Jon Feere.

The pro-amnesty lobbyists who helped craft the Schumer-Rubio immigration bill included within the bill two “slush funds” amounting to $150 million that may be supplemented with additional taxpayer dollars for years to come. Slush fund grantees are “public or private, non-profit organizations” described in the bill as including “a community, faith-based, or other immigrant-serving organization whose staff has demonstrated qualifications, experience, and expertise in providing quality services to immigrants, refugees, persons granted asylum, or persons applying for such statuses.” In other words, the grantees would include many of the groups involved in writing and promoting the amnesty.

Section 2537 of the Schumer-Rubio bill provides “Initial Entry, Adjustment, and Citizenship Assistance” grants to public and private, non-profit organizations that promise to help illegal immigrants apply for the amnesty (p. 384). For example, this includes help with “completing applications”, “gathering proof of identification”, and “applying for any waivers”. But the recipients of these funds are given a lot of discretion, as the funds can also be used for “any other assistance” that the grantee “considers useful” to aliens applying for amnesty. The bill appropriates $100 million in grant funding for a five-year period ending in 2018, plus any additional “sums as may be necessary for fiscal year 2019 and subsequent fiscal years”. (p. 392). There are no limits to the amount of money that may be given out to pro-amnesty groups.

Read it all!

So who are those “faith-based” and “immigrant-serving organizations” we are familiar with here at RRW—the federal refugee contractors euphemistically called Volags (short for Voluntary Agencies) paid largely by the US taxpayer to resettle refugees.

I already know that most of these ‘non-profits’ are lobbying for the Gang of Eight bill (I just haven’t bothered to check each website).  There are hundreds more smaller groups that will be squabbling over the new federal handout if the ‘Gang’ is successful.

I’ve wondered aloud why these contractors, charged with finding jobs for LEGAL refugees and asylees, are pushing for the legalization of millions of illegal alien job-competitors—this new pot of money is surely near the top of the list for reasons why!

I wonder does Bill O’Reilly know how deep the Catholic Bishops are in this refugee/asylum industry?  (They are the largest of the nine, followed by the IRC and LIRS):

Tsarnaev grant of asylum steams Bill O’Reilly

O’Reilly:  Why are we supporting questionable foreign folks?

(LOL! He doesn’t know the half of it!)

I’m an ‘occasional’ fan of O’Reilly, and happened to catch part of his show last night when he used Alan Colmes as a punching bag about the Boston Bomber family’s reported $100,000 dip into the pockets of American taxpayers.

If O’Reilly continues to investigate the refugee/asylum system, I will be his number one fan!

Mediaite has the story and the clip:

Bill O’Reilly kicked off his show tonight expressing outrage with the mother of Boston bombing suspects the Tsarnaev brothers for accusing the United States of a conspiracy to frame and kill her children, when her family has been taking more than $100,000 in welfare benefits for years. O’Reilly and Monica Crowley expressed outrage at the lack of welfare oversight, and when Alan Colmes challenged their claims, O’Reilly told Colmes to “shut up.”

O’Reilly called the mother “disgraceful” for her comments, and asked exactly why “we the people [are] supporting questionable foreign folks.” He wanted to know why President Obama and Governor Deval Patrick aren’t expressing outrage with the fact that the Tsarnaevs were getting welfare assistance, decrying the lack of outrage as “business as usual” for an immigration policy and a welfare system that turns a blind eye in situations like these.

Watch the 8 minute segment on Mediaite.

The Asylum question!

Why did we let them in and how persecuted could they have been if they were, and are, traveling back and forth?

Funny that the Mediaite report just focused on the welfare use, but to me O’Reilly’s outrage about their “vacations” to the land of persecution struck a cord.

Readers, we have seen it over and over again.  We give refuge to people who claim persecution and then we see them go ‘home’ for visits and to do business.  We have written at RRW about Bosnians going ‘home’ because they still own property, Mesketian Turks have houses to sell back ‘home’ and we can only speculate that they too must go back to Russia for occasional business, but the most outrageous are the Somalis.  (Muslims all!)

We are resettling Somalis by the hundreds each month RIGHT NOW, yet many we have fed, housed, clothed and educated go back for various reasons—primarily “business” or to visit the family. Who can afford a plane ticket to Africa?   But, we can’t forget that dozens of ‘youths’ went back to learn the fine art of Jihad, here in 2008!

Since the beginning of the 2013 fiscal year we have resettled 3,674 SomalisIf that rate continues we will be bringing  nearly 9,000 Somalis to your cities this year, putting 2013 right up there with some of our top resettlement years (since 9/11!) for Somalis!

BTW, the family reunification program for Somalis recently re-opened after being closed for years because of widespread fraud—those getting in as ‘family’ were found (through random DNA testing) not to be related at all.  The State Department admitted that tens of thousands of Somalis are in the US illegally!

Yet, we have one report after another that the new government of Somalia is welcoming American Somalis HOME!

Don’t forget!

The Gang of Eight bill will make it easier for so-called asylum seekers and refugees to be admitted to the US because it makes whole groups of people eligible while under the present  system they are still supposed to prove they personally fear persecution!

Please Bill keep investigating!
