Just another day at the library in Somali-country Minnesota

Two stabbed outside library by Koran-carrying woman!

From CBS News (hat tip Cliff):

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) — Two people were stabbed in a seemingly random attack at a Twin Cities library.

After the incident Wednesday night at the Oxboro Library in Bloomington, 35-year-old Samira Abdalla Salim was arrested.

Salim was no stranger to the Oxboro Library. She had a reputation for handing out the Koran and talking religion outside the building.

“They had some issues with her harassing other patrons,” said Bloomington Police Commander Mark Stehlik.

But it’s what investigators say she did on Wednesday night that surprised everyone.

“I never thought she would do that. She was very nice,” said Anisa Ahmed, Salim’s neighbor.

Salim is accused of stabbing two people. The first victim was a woman who was walking into the library.

“The next thing she knew, she felt a sharp pain in the middle of her back and realized she had been stabbed,” said Stehlik.

The second was a security guard who heard the victim’s cry for help. He went to talk to Salim in the parking lot.

This story reminds me that former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty  served as governor while thousands of Somalis were resettled in his state, in fact during some of the highest years for Somali resettlementNumberUSA gives him a great score on the issue of immigration but I am wondering if anyone has any information about whether he or his administration ever questioned the huge numbers of Somalis being placed in Minnesota by federal contractors.

Please e-mail me at  Ann@vigilantfreedom.com if you know anything about Pawlenty’s role in the resettlement process in Minnesota.

If you haven’t seen my first post this morning it’s about a Somali “kid” who left the good life (the American Dream!) in Minnesota to return to Africa for Jihad training, here.  He allegedly blew himself (and others) up there this week.

American Somali suicide bomber: come on brothers, jump into the jihad!

And you will get virgins and  the US government will bring your body parts back to the US for a proper burial near your family! Wow!

I was away most of the day yesterday as everyone was gasping over this latest former refugee who allegedly blew himself to bits in Africa for Allah.   Frankly, I’m sick of this story and these ungrateful refugees who have no interest in assimilating.  All I could think of was the waste of taxpayer money—your hard-earned dollars that were used for raising this kid in Minneapolis:  his education, his healthcare, his food stamps and the damn open borders activists who are busy every day hauling people like him into the US (and, adding insult to injury, we pay them for their work!).

Oh, and don’t forget the expense of all the terror investigators and prosecutions on-going.

But, it’s my duty to post this, even if you’ve seen it elsewhere.   From AP:

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Federal authorities said they are trying to confirm the identity of a suicide bomber who carried out a deadly attack in Somalia after a militant group claimed Thursday that the man was a Somali-American from Minnesota.

The group al-Shabab said 25-year-old Abdullahi Ahmed of Minneapolis bombed the African Union base in Mogadishu on Monday, killing two AU troops and a government soldier. Minnesota, home to the largest Somali community in the U.S., has been the center of a federal investigation in recent years into the recruiting and travels of young men who left the U.S. believed to have gone to fight with al-Shabab.

The FBI is aware of the bombing and has agents in East Africa investigating, and the agency is trying to determine the bomber’s identity, said Steve Warfield, an FBI spokesman in Minnesota.

“We are trying to find out who that guy is and if there are any ties to Minnesota, but right now we don’t know,” Warfield said.

He said that process could take time, and authorities may never get definitive answers. Not only do agents need to get into the war-torn country, which has been unstable for decades, they have to find something that could be tested for authenticity, he said.

More than 20 young men have left Minnesota in waves since 2007 to allegedly join al-Shabab, which the U.S. says has ties to al-Qaida.

A total of 19 people have been charged in Minnesota in connection with the travelers and alleged terror financing. Others have been charged in San Diego and St. Louis with funneling money to the terror group.

AP reports an interview with the supposed American bomber in which he says come and join us!

The man said the suicide bombing had been planned in advance. He also spoke briefly in English, delivering a message to his “brothers and sisters” in the West: “Wherever you are, brothers, come,” he said. “Come to jihad.”

[….]

The group is known for using Americans to recruit others to their cause.

Burying them at taxpayer expense!

We first reported on these Somali “kids” going back to Africa in 2008, here.  And, at that time we reported that the first American suicide bomber, was identified as Shirwa Ahmed of Minneapolis.  Here AP mentions him, but doesn’t mention that we brought his body parts back to the US and buried them at taxpayers expense!

The first known American suicide bomber in Somalia was Shirwa Ahmed of Minneapolis. He blew himself up in October 2008, in the northern breakaway republic of Somaliland as part of a series of coordinated explosions that killed 21 people. In September 2009, insurgents — including an 18-year-old from Seattle — drove two stolen United Nations cars into an African Union base and detonated them, killing 21 people.

Omar Jamal again!

And, to add to my annoyance over this whole story, the AP uses the ubiquitous Omar Jamal as a source.  Longtime readers know I call Jamal the Somali Jesse Jackson!  We have dozens of posts on the man convicted in Tennessee years ago of immigration fraud charges who should have been deported (we don’t deport to Somalia, by the way, Canada does), but who lazy reporters go to to help spin just about any Somali story.   Use our search function for ‘Omar Jamal’ and see what I mean!   LOL! Here is a story I posted in 2009 when another of the “kids” was killed in Somalia and Jamal insisted the US bring his body home.

For New Readers!  Stories like this one always bring new readers to RRW and you should know that the US State Department brings in thousands of Somalis every year as refugees.  Groups like Catholic Charities, the Hebrew Immigrant Aide Society, Church World Service and World Relief (among others) are paid with your tax dollars to resettle them in your towns.

We have admitted well over 100,000 Somali refugees to the US.   To check out the numbers visit this post, one of our most widely read posts over the last few years.   In FY2010 which ended September 30th the US State Department resettled 4,884 Somalis (here) to towns near you.  The “teen” would-be bomber in Oregon was one of the refugees.

Also, after being closed for nearly two years, the US State Department is on the verge (has been on the verge for months and months!)  of resuming the fraud-ridden family reunification program that admitted as many as 36,000 Somalis fraudulently to the US between 2003 and 2008.  See the latest on new regulations, here.

Now, also, Somalis are coming illegally across our borders and ironically asking for asylum because of the radical Islamic Jihadists (including Americans!) in Africa.

Terrorists, TB and Tyson Foods

I don’t mean to say there are terrorists at Tyson Foods.  I should be saying ‘Terrorists, TB and meatpackers,’ but it doesn’t have quite the same ring.   Yesterday we learned that Iraqi refugees, alleged terrorists, were resettled in Bowling Green, Kentucky and at least one worked in meatpacking.

Today I’ll tell you about Burmese refugees (with TB and other health issues) recruited by Tyson Foods to work in meatpacking in Waterloo, Iowa.    Actually if you are a long-time reader of RRW you know I’m a broken record on the subject of resettlement contractors (even supposedly church groups) and the US State Department supplying cheap immigrant labor to meatpacking giants.  Until the meatpackers got addicted to immigrant labor (first it was illegal immigrant labor), meatpacking was a good and desirable well-paying job that Americans were happy to do.

Looks like Tyson, and maybe other meatpackers, have given up on the Somalis and their religious accommodation demands and have now moved along to the more malleable Burmese refugees.

We first learned about problems with Tuberculosis in the refugee community in 2007 from Allen County (Ft. Wayne) Indiana.   Ultimately the county got additional funding from the US taxpayer to help them cope with refugee health issues.

From WCF Courier:

Nearly all of the Burmese who have come to Waterloo are “secondary migrants” who were resettled elsewhere after leaving refugee camps and then recruited by Tyson.

“Those who like it here and are finding good work are referring other refugees from other locations,” said Bruce Meisinger, director of public health for Black Hawk County. He expects their numbers to grow to at least 300 by the end of the year as additional workers and family members arrive from other places.

Since the influx began, the Black Hawk County Health Department — which Meisinger oversees — has been leading efforts to provide support for the Burmese. He said the main reason the department got involved with the refugees was to screen, test and treat them for tuberculosis.

“Virtually all of the cases of TB we have are from persons not born in the United States,” Meisinger said. “You inevitably come across other health concerns. We’re fulfilling a need to coordinate for multiple health issues.”

Michelle Devlin, a UNI professor and director of the Iowa Center on Health Disparity, said recently arrived refugees will often experience changes in health because of new diets and less physical activity. Foods they have traditionally eaten may not be readily available. Instead, they have easy access to simple carbohydrates, junk food, and canned or processed food.

“We always take a look at refugee dental issues,” she said. “We like to take a look at safety issues or accident issues.” Mental health concerns, like the possibility of post-traumatic stress disorder, are another area of focus for public health officials.

Some of the new arrivals may have witnessed ethnic conflict or genocide. They may suffer from depression, anxiety, loneliness, culture shock or “cultural bereavement” — grieving for the loss of the culture they left behind. [Oh, but we all know life will be better in the US working in slaughter houses!  They will get used to it! Right!—ed]

The health department is working with Tyson to meet other needs of the refugees, as well. Tyson staff have helped the new employees find housing, get driver’s licenses and worked with local agencies [This means local welfare agencies, like those that distribute food stamps.  Tyson gets the cheap labor and the taxpayer supports the needs of the refugee family-–ed]

Read it all.  Sorry I am out of time today to give you a lot of links, but our first evidence that politicians were working to bring refugee labor to meatpackers was from this story about the Clinton Administration supplying Bosnian labor for IBP (ultimately sold to Tyson Foods) in Iowa.  And, interestingly we now know they must also have resettled Bosnians to Bowling Green as well.

Krikorian: Why take any Iraqi refugees at all?

That is the question the executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, Mark Krikorian, asked in a piece on the Kentucky Iraqi alleged terrorist arrest yesterday.  As Iraq becomes safer, we take more and more refugees!  Does that make sense?

The bigger question is why are we taking refugees from Iraq at all? Resettlement to the United States should be used only as the absolute last resort for people who will surely be killed if they stay where they are and who have nowhere else — nowhere whatsoever — to go. There are lots of Arab countries where Iraqis have been going for some time, notably Syria and Jordan, and Saudi Arabia’s a big, empty place right next door. The State Department sort of followed that policy for the first few years of our Mesopotamian adventure, with fewer that 200 Iraqi refugees admitted in FY 2006 and about 1,600 in FY 2007. But the following year the number ballooned to nearly 14,000, and it’s been more than 18,000 for each of the past two years. So, as things have gotten less dangerous in Iraq, we’ve begun importing more refugees.

Just a reminder!  There is the war model we learned about when a 1999 National War College report was declassified. It’s analogous to never letting a good crisis go to waste.  Never let a good war go to waste—use it to bring more immigrants to America while getting paid for it!

OIC to continue pushing Rohingya refugee rights

The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) has reiterated support for the unification of Rohingya people (Burmese Muslims).

From Burma News International:

The Secretary General clarified that an agreement was reached during the first meeting on 9 June 2010 which established an organizational and coordination structure known as the Arakan Rohingya Union (ARU) with the aim of uniting Rohingya peoples’ efforts. He stated that today’s meeting seeks the same purpose.

The Secretary General underlined that the meeting stresses the importance of coordinating the work of Rohingya Muslim organizations and uniting their ranks under a united coordination council, and calls on OIC to continue these efforts to reclaim Rohingya Muslims’ rights.

[….]

The Secretary General of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) reiterated the OIC’s solidarity with the Rohingya people and reassured them of the continued support of the organisation.

The Secretary General also reaffirmed that the OIC supports the return of the refugees and the restoration of their rights and privileges which were taken from them by the Burmese authorities.

There is nothing particularly newsworthy to Western readers, but I wanted to continue to build our Rohingya Reports category (which I’ve let languish for months) as we learned that US federal refugee contractors like the US Conference of Catholic Bishops are stepping up their call for more Rohingya to be resettled here.
