Baptist contractor for illegal aliens gives Baptists generally a bad name

Lobbies to get a bigger piece of the action.

I suppose you could say that the new leading “Christian” charity/federal contractor hired by ORR to care for the “chiiildruuun” isn’t really made up of  Baptists at all, they are just pretending to be so they can wear that ‘do-gooder’  white hat.

If I were of the Baptist faith, I’d be distancing myself from this bunch pretty quick.

Today the Daily Caller revealed that Baptist Child and Family Services (BCFS) is lobbying for its taxpayer-supplied moolah and may not have reported that fact properly on it’s tax returns.

The other contractors*** lobby as well, but they skirt along the edges of the law by doing grassroots lobbying and hiring Washington “representatives” which is legal I suppose, but ethically stinks.   They all have developed networks of activists who will respond to action alerts by calling or otherwise contacting their elected Washington Representatives and testifying in Congress when appealing for more money and more refugees.

In fact, that (organize grassroots) is all those Tea Party groups that the IRS has cheated were asking for the right to do—but there is one big difference!   Unlike these contractors masquerading as Christian charities (and one Jewish charity) that receive almost their entire budgets from the US Treasury, the Tea Party groups receive no funding from the taxpayer.

That is what is so maddening!  The “humanitarian” hustlers are using your money to lobby for more of your money!  There ought to be a law!

BCFS apparently doesn’t have any grassroots, so they hire lobbying firms to get their (big) piece of the pie.

From the Daily Caller:

A Texas-based organization that has been awarded hundreds of millions of dollars in federal contracts by the Obama administration to house illegal immigrant children not only lobbied the federal government, but also failed to properly disclose the activity.

After The Daily Caller inquired about its lobbying disclosures, BCFS, a San Antonio-based nonprofit, now says it may correct its tax forms to properly disclose its lobbying expenditures.

The Obama administration, through the Department of Health and Human Services, has tapped BCFS, formerly known as Baptist Child & Family Services, to provide security and other services to unaccompanied children at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, and Ft. Sill army base near Lawton, Okla.

BCFS has become the largest provider of such services for the child immigrants, who are part of a massive influx of mostly Central Americans that has put the Obama administration on its heels…

[….]

HHS has given BCFS $280 million in federal contracts for its services so far this year. Nearly all of that — $270 million — has been given for services for unaccompanied children. HHS has given BCFS $458 million in total, according to the Tracking Accountability in Government Grants System.

According to the Senate lobbying database, BCFS is the only organization that provides residential services directly for unaccompanied children that has spent money on lobbying.

Since 2006, BCFS has spent $210,000, according to a database maintained by the Center for Responsive Politics.

ORR: 30,340 ‘unaccompanied minors’ already placed this year

Obama brings the Sanctuary Movement to full flower!

Thanks to reader Susan for sending us this list of how many of the illegal alien children have already been placed in your state in 2014 alone!

Former Catholic nun Darlene Nicgorski seeing her ‘work’ continued by Barack Obama. http://blogs.libraries.claremont.edu/sc/2012/07/darlene-nicgorski-papers.html

From the Office of Refugee Resettlement:

Once the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) receives a child from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), we have the responsibility to continuously seek placement options in the child’s best interest. This typically involves releasing children to sponsors. Sponsors are adults who can suitably provide for the child’s physical and mental well-being and have not engaged in any activity that would indicate a potential risk to the child.

We try to place the child with a parent, and if that is not possible, with a relative, and if that is not possible, with a family friend.

Here (below) are the top ten states where the “children” have been sent to join “sponsors.”   These are not the “children” being housed in bulk in various places around the US.  Those were identified here.

Are your school districts ready?

Darlene Nicgorski’s legacy—the Sanctuary Movement is alive and well (legal and paid for by you!).

I suspect these numbers reflect the population of Central Americans in certain states.  For example, Maryland has a huge number of Salvadorans (and other Central Americans) who got here through the Sanctuary Movement in the 1980’s.  Additionally, Maryland has the well-established illegal alien advocacy and support group—Casa de Maryland—which grew out of the Sanctuary Movement*** and is now getting government grants to help support the illegals (including the “children”) arriving in the state.

Texas:  4,280

New York:  3,347

Florida:  3,181

California:  3,150

Virginia:  2,234

Maryland:  2,205

New Jersey:  1,504

North Carolina:  1,191

Georgia:  1,154

Louisiana:  1,071

*** I encourage you to read one of several posts (and follow links) at RRW about the roots of the Central American invasion of the US that the Left calls the Sanctuary Movement.    Chicago Catholics (Saul Alinsky got his start among them) were at the heart of the movement and today Obama is finishing their work — work that began when he was a pothead college student, not interested in much other than getting high.

Remember!  The Left (Progressives, Socialists, Communists) never rest….

Here is one paragraph from my August 2011 post.

The good Catholic nun and her friends took it upon themselves to break the law and get them across the border.   I would recommend that readers with an interest in this topic read, ‘God and Caesar at the Rio Grande’ by Hillary Cunningham for more on the Religious Left and Liberation theology and how they justified breaking the law and planting the seeds of unrest we have in many American cities with the huge illegal alien population today.

Our now very extensive archive on the ‘unaccompanied minors’ invasion is here.

Friday round-up: Top posts, top countries

Since I don’t know how many readers have a look at our Top Posts every day in the right hand sidebar, thought maybe I would, at the end of each week, give a brief summary of what readers were most interested in over the previous seven days.

Here are the top three this week:

Athens, GA:  Do you know you will soon be receiving hundreds of third-worlders?

Tennesseans urging US Senators to block possible border surge to Tennessee

Refugee Resettlement Fact Sheet

Of course the lion’s share of our readers come from the US, but here are the top ten countries from which readers came to RRW in the past seven days (although there were about another 140 countries on the list).  In descending order:

United Kingdom

Canada

Australia

Hong Kong

South Africa

Germany

Thailand

Afghanistan

France

Pakistan

It is only July 25th, but already this month we have broken all records for readership and we are recording the largest number of  readers here in our seven-year history.

If you are a new reader, consider subscribing or follow us on twitter (@refugeewatcher) or facebook (RefugeeInfoResource).  Like us!

And apologies to all who e-mail and comment, sorry if I don’t respond much, there are just not enough hours in my day!

P.S. to critics:  This is a charitable enterprise on my part, let’s just call it an ‘act of love’ to spend hours every day informing average taxpaying American citizens about the migrant tide (much of it LEGAL) flooding our towns and cities through a morass of government programs dressed up to look like ‘religious charity.’

You have a right to know what they plan for your community!
